Ethical horseback riding tours in Costa Rica
Every horse you'll ride was rescued and rehabilitated here first, not rented in for the season.
Horseback Riding Tours
Short rides, half-day and full-day tours through the beaches and rainforest around Puerto Viejo, Cocles, Punta Uva and Manzanillo — each horse matched to its rider, helmets provided, ridden only in small or private groups. Private and multi-day experiences are available on request.

Not a tour company with horses as inventory
Most trail-ride operators on this coast work from a rental string. Ours started the other way around: Oriana and Jimmy have taken in injured, starved and abandoned horses since 2007, working from more than 40 years of combined experience in equine care, natural horsemanship and classical European training. A horse only carries a guided ride once it's ready for one — the ride is how you meet the rescue, not a separate business next to it.
Every horse here was rescued first
Every horse in our care came from neglect, mistreatment or abandonment. We work with natural horsemanship — clear communication, patience and positive reinforcement instead of force — until a horse finds its confidence again. Some recover enough to carry a guided ride; others are simply retired here, cared for for the rest of their lives.

Rescued in poor condition, Polar's coat grew back white — he'd never even been washed or brushed.

Nursed back to health over two years, Bálsamo is now a gentle mount for children and beginners.

Story coming soon

Once starving and afraid of people, Eragon now welcomes every newly rescued horse into the herd.

Broken by years of forced trotting, Pachenco slowly relearned trust — now he adores children.
